Everyone ready for back to school?

When do your schools start? Ours don't start until after Labor Day and we haven't gotten the supply list yet

School starts here in 11 days!!!! (August 14th!!!) We have met the teacher night on th 10th, which should be fun... two different schools, at the same times. I can skip part of my sons, at the Middle school... I work in the lunchroom there and will see his teachers EVERYDAY!!! (He doesn't want me there) If my daughters got the teachers we asked for, we might be able to breeze through that and spend more time at the Middle school.

Either way... I can't wait!!!

School starts on Aug. 28th for my son. I was lucky enough that they gave us the school supply list for the next year the last day of school. I thought that worked out nice. That way we weren't last minute trying to run around and find everything. I guess it is off to grade 1 for my little one.

I am a teacher and we go back on Aug 16th. The kids start on Aug 25.

Talking about school starting I couldnt believe I was looking at the newspaper this morning and saw things parents must now provide. Insane!! I couldnt believe you need to buy Fiskars scissors for one of our schools for Kinderkarten, also Black Sharpie markers abottle of Germ X and box of Ziplock bags. This is just to name a few things. My child isnt in school yet not till next year, this is pretty bad what parents need to come up. Older grades needed things like composition notebooks, gelpens instead of colored markers for coloring maps and etc. This has got to stop we as parents shouldnt have to supply the schools and teachers with things. The only things we should have to get is the basics- such as crayons, safety scissors for our kids not fiskars for the teachers, pencils, paper and cheap little 1 subject ones should be sufficient. The kids can have one for each class if needed. Just basic supplies. Next they will ask us to supply our own Teacher!!! Sorry but I find this topic for going back to school iritating when asked if have gotten school supplies yet?
