Talking Denim Journal/Diary

Adult size denim jeans pant leg with pocket
Denim button and button hole
Fabric paint
Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Cut as if making a pair of cutoff jeans; cutting upward along the inside seam.

Lay the journal open so that the seam of the book is laying on the seam that you left on the pant leg, leaving the outside of the jean outward. Trim around the book, leaving 1/2" of material all around the book.

Using a hot glue gun, glue up the edges of the material to the journal as if you were wrapping a package. (For the seam, cut 2 small slits on the seam material on both ends. Glue up one side of the book at a time closing the book before you do the other side so that you are sure that it fits properly and will still close.

Bring up the seams and glue them in place. Gle the first papters that are in the front and the back to cover where the denim was glued.

Glue on the pocket on 3 sides leaving the top open to hold a pen or pencil. Paint a decoration of your choice on the pocket and whatever else you wish to write above or below the pocket. Glue the button on the front. Take the other side of the snap or button and about 3 inches of waist band...Snap or fasten the buttons together, with the book closed, leaving a slight bit of slack so that it isn't hard to reclose later, glue the non button side of the waist band to the back of the journal.

Makes a great gift or party craft for a tween or just about anyone!:
