Default South Dakota

There's the usual beach spots and amusement parks everyone seems to go to every summer but we took a vacation out west with our 9 and 4 year old daughters and we all had a blast visiting Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Badlands. The scenery was unbelieveable and the girls took in every moment.

Thumbs up The Black Hills of South Dakota

I was lucky enough to be born and raised in SD. My three sons(8,6,& 4yrs) absolutely love it when we go to SD for camping trips, or even to just go on hikes or a day of fishing. The scenery is beautiful and the people are always friendly.

Besides the outdoors entertainment, there is always Mt Rushmore, Reptile Gardens, Bear Country USA, The Mammoth Site, Wall Drug, The Badlands, Custer State Park, Wind Cave Nat'l Park and Jewel Cave(just to name a few) all within a 2 hr radius of Rapid City,SD.

And for the adults, Deadwood is a little city lined with Casinos(yes, Saloon #10, Buffalo Bills, etc). There is even a tv show after Deadwood!

And each year in August is the Sturgis Bike Rally, just a short distance from Rapid City.

I don't mean to sound like an advertisement, but there sure is a lot of activity packed within a short space....but NOT with all the people like at Disney World, etc.
