Smile Frugal Funky Windchimes

Frugal Funky Windchimes

Items needed:

Tins cans
Water
refrigerator
Sharp nails
Hammer
Towel

2 different paints made especially for painting on metal
Old sponges
Jute Twine
Some type of bell for sound or a heavy jewel to hang on end of twine.

Instructions:
Clean and remove labels
Fill clean cans with 3/4 of the way with water, and freeze for about 2 hours (depending on the size of the can)

Once frozen place can sideways on soft towel.
With a hammer & nail, gently tap a holes in a pattern if you like. Make sure to make a hole on top of can to hang your wind chime. This will be really cold & wet, you might want to use some gardening gloves. Once the ice has melted a little, you loosen it from the can and slide out, and dry.

Paint can on solid color and sponge on the second color in a random pattern. Let dry.

Twine:
Measure about 36" and make a loop knot on one end feed through position where you'd like the can to hang. Then make another larger knot to secure the can. Tie a bell or a pretty piece of jewlry on other end of twine.

Can Variations:

Instead of painting the can you can set the can outside in the rain and let it rust for a rustic look.

Or turn can upside down place a candle inside, and put on your porch or patio for mood lighting.

Thanks and happy crafting!
