Hi, I’m Laila Thompson

I am an illustrator and a teacher at heart. I hold a degree in graphic design and a diploma in early childhood education, and I mix those two skills every day to make coloring pages, craft sheets, and quick worksheets that kids can enjoy in minutes.

Years ago, on a rainy Sunday, my two children grew restless. Our art box was empty, so I opened my old laptop and drew a chunky cat in PowerPoint. The printout hit the table, the crayons came out, and peace returned to the house. Right then, I saw how one simple page could turn a long day around.

I drew ten more sheets and sent them to friends. Their kids asked for farm animals, rockets, ABC tracing, and holiday banners. I kept drawing—late at night, early in the morning, during lunch breaks at my teaching job. I posted each file on a small blog I called KidPrintables.

Fast-forward to today:

  • Hundreds of PDF files sit in the free library.

  • My designs appear in children’s books and learning apps around the world.

  • Parents, tutors, and teachers in more than forty countries download pages every month.

All from that first fat cat.

Why I Make These Pages

Bring joy fast — Parents and teachers should spend time with kids, not hunt for supplies. One click, one print, done.

Grow skills — Coloring and cutting build fine-motor control and hand-eye coordination. Simple math drills sharpen number sense.

Spark ideas — An image of a rocket can lead to talk about the moon; a cut-out mask can turn reading time into a mini play.

How I Build Each Page

  1. Idea list — I collect your email requests, poll votes, and classroom needs.

  2. Sketch — Using Procreate on an iPad, I draw smooth, bold lines that stay crisp when printed.

  3. Kid test — My two “junior editors” color, cut, and tell me what they like and what feels tricky.

  4. Fine-tune — I adjust shapes, fix spacing, and check that every line is closed so crayons stay inside.

  5. Write tips — Eva adds short, clear text: “Try colored pencils for small spots,” “Laminate for repeat use,” and so on.

  6. Publish — Mark checks file size, loads it to the server, and links it in the right folder.

Only after these six steps do you see the download button.

My Promise

  • Free core library — Most pages will always cost nothing. Paid bundles just keep the lights on.

  • Safe site — No pop-ups with sound, no surprise videos, no forced sign-ups before downloads.

  • Quick help — Email me at [email protected] and I’ll reply within two workdays.

  • Plain words — I write so a ten-year-old can read the page alone.

  • Your voice counts — Many of our best themes started as reader ideas.

The Small Team Behind Me

  • Eva Harrison — Writer who turns facts into clear, fun lines.

  • Joshua Palmer — Web helper who keeps downloads fast and safe.

  • Junior Testers — My nine- and seven-year-old kids, official crayon critics.

Together we check every file before it reaches you.

In the World

  • My art appears in three children’s storybooks, a handwriting workbook, and two online learning hubs.

  • A public TV kids’ show used one of my sea-life pages for a craft segment.

  • Early-literacy centers in five countries print my alphabet sheets for family nights.

These features warm my heart, yet the best moments are still the photos parents send of colored cats on fridges and paper crowns at birthday tables.

A Big Thank-You

Kid Printables started with one chunky cat on a rainy day. It keeps growing because caring adults like you print the pages, share the links, and send kind words. Every download helps children build fine-motor skills, spark ideas, and spend joyful time with the people who guide them.

Print, color, learn, and smile—I’m glad you’re here!
