Default Halloween Crafts Post #3

Egg Carton Spiders

Recycling egg cartons into spiders makes a cute craft for Halloween.

Parental supervision is recommended when using wire cutters, awl, or screwdriver.

This project is rated VERY EASY to do.

What You Need:

Black paint
Paint brush
Egg carton
Scissors
Awl or small phillips head screwdriver
Black chenille stems
Wire cutters
Wiggle eyes
Glue

How To Make It:

Note: Precut the carton and prepare the holes ahead of time for classroom use.

Cut the egg carton apart into little cups/sections.
Using the awl or screwdriver make 8 holes in the bottom edge of each section for the legs.
Paint the egg carton section with black paint. Let dry.
Cut the chenille stems in half.
Push the chenille stem in one side of the section and out the opposite side. Bend down the legs.
Repeat for each of the legs.
Glue on wiggle eyes.

Halloween Centerpiece

Purchase small pumpkin shaped gourds. There are always lots available in the grocery stores at this time of year. Keep the ones with pretty stems to include without candles.

Parental supervision is recommended.

This project is rated AVERAGE to do.

What You Need:

Orange pumpkin gourds
Yellow, orange and black candles
Apple corer
Florists' adhesive clay, optional
Dried leaves or vines, as desired

How To Make It:

Break off the stalk from the gourds.
Use an apple corer to make a bigger indentation in the top for a candle.
Note: If the gourd is too hard to do this, get some florists' adhesive clay and use that to hold the candle in the top.

Insert a candle.
Make a centerpiece with several candleholder gourds and some of the ones (with nice stalks) that you saved.
Scatter in some fall (dried) leaves or vines, whatever you can find. Use your imagination!

Kids' Halloween Wreath

This project is VERY EASY. Anyone can do it. Kids can hang it on their door, or put it in their room, or you could even hang it outside.

This project is rated VERY EASY to do.

What You Need:P

Scissors
Glue or tape
Writing utensil
Poster board or a lightweight cardboard box
Yarn or string
Paint, different colors
a Halloween mind

How To Make It:

For the wreath base, cut out a large doughnut shape from the poster board. Paint it green.
Draw and cut out shapes of Halloween creatures, witches hats, ghost, pumpkins, goblins, and anything else.
Paint your shapes the colors you wish.
When dry, glue them to the wreath any way you wish.
Attach yarn to the back of the wreath in a looped shape so you can hang it up.
HAVE FUN!! :-)
