Default "Lights Out" Box

I can't remember where I originally found this idea, but it works great for kids of all ages. The idea is to create a project box to help pass the time when the power goes out. Start with an empty cardboard box (a shoebox works great) or a large empty can (think coffee, stuffing mix, or powdered drink mixes). Next, cover the box with kraft paper. Let the kids decorate it with crayons, markers, stamps, etc. Once it's decorated, fill it with practical things like a flashlight and small projects like a new coloring book, playdough, etc. -- things that don't require electricity! Next time the power goes out, you'll have a kit of fun stuff ready to go.

Blessings,
Christy
